How much is the Evolution Flight Display?
The PFDs start at $4,995 and the MFDs start at $4,995. For detailed list pricing, see the Evolution Pricing page.
What is the installation cost?
Every aircraft panel is different so it is difficult to put a dollar amount on the total installation cost. The unique form factor and open software architecture of the Evolution product line greatly reduces the overall installation cost over other system. It is recommended that you speak with your avionics shop for specific installed pricing for your aircraft. Click here to find an authorized Aspen dealer.
Where can I buy an Evolution Flight Display system?

Will the Evolution Flight Display work with my current autopilot/flight director?
For the latest information on Evolution certifications and integration specifications, including autopilots and flight directors, refer to the Evolution Approvals page.
Will the Evolution Flight Display system work with my current GPS?
All Evolution Flight Display PFDs are designed to work with dual GPS sources that interface through ARINC 429 and/or RS-232.
The GPS Steering (GPSS) function of the Pro PFD is available only when the installed GPS navigator is an ARINC 429-based GPS providing Label 121 bank angle command information (e.g., Garmin 400/500 series GPS navigators).
The EFD system supports both WAAS and legacy GPS navigators. When connected to a WAAS GPS, the Pro PFD will display the Vertical Deviation Indicator (like an ILS glideslope indicator) when an APV (approach with vertical guidance) is loaded and active, and the WAAS GPS is outputting vertical deviation signals to the PFD.
The Pro PFD can also be configured at installation to display the required WAAS GPS annunciations, obviating the need for external annunciators.
Will the Evolution Flight Display system work with my VHF navigation radios?
The Pro PFD supports dual VHF navigation radios, whether standalone VHF radios with composite nav outputs, or integrated GPS/Nav receivers.
Which backup instruments are required if I install the Evolution system?
The installation of a single 1000 Pro PFD requires a back-up attitude indicator, altimeter, and airspeed indicator in most standard installs.
Installation of the 1000 Pro PFD plus a 1000 MFD (Evolution 2000) with the external battery backup only requires a back-up attitude indicator in most standard installs. Adding the 500 MFD as a third display (Evolution 2500) would have this same requirement.
Be sure to consult with your Authorized Aspen Avionics dealer regarding specific details for your Aspen installation.
What is the certification basis for the EFD1000?
For the latest information on Evolution certifications refer to the Evolution Approvals page.
In which makes and models of aircraft can the EFD1000 be installed?
The Evolution system is approved for installation on over 700 aircraft models. For the latest information on Evolution certifications, including AML-STCs, refer to the Evolution Approvals page.
Can the Evolution Flight Display be installed in helicopters?
Yes. The Aspen Evolution system is now available for helicopters. We currently have an STC for the Bell 206 and we are working towards several other makes and models, including Bell 407, Robinson R22/44, and Eurocopter AS350 and AS355.
