Aspen Avionics and L-3 Join Forces to Offer More ADS-B Options
Partnership gives pilots more feature-rich ADS-B display choices in affordable packages
EAA AirVenture, Oshkosh, WI, July 21, 2015: Aspen Avionics (Hangar B, booth 2145) announced today an agreement between L-3 and Aspen to offer an integrated system that includes the Aspen primary and multi-function displays and L-3’s Lynx® NGT-9000 MultiLink Surveillance System. Demonstrations of the integrated display system are available in the Aspen Avionics booth and in the L-3 booth (Hangar C, booth 3109). This agreement extends to joint sales and service support for customers.
“Aspen and L-3 share a common philosophy; we firmly believe that open systems create more opportunities for collaboration. When avionics manufacturers work together, it creates a culture of innovation where the outcome can benefit the entire general aviation community − not only by making avionics more affordable, but also from the viewpoint of improving overall general aviation safety,” said John Uczekaj, president and CEO.
“Aspen is exactly the type of forward-looking company we enjoy partnering with,” said Larry Riddle, L-3 Aviation Products vice president of marketing and sales for business, regional and general aviation. “What they are doing for cockpit display technology is what Lynx is doing for ADS-B technology. The entire community benefits when avionics manufacturers work together to bring integrated and affordable technologies to the cockpit.”
A key outcome of this collaboration is to offer affordable packaged bundles that include Aspen Avionics display(s), and the Lynx NGT-9000 transponder. Packages and pricing are:
-
EFD1000 Pro Plus (includes synthetic vision and AOA) + NGT-9000: $20,795 - $1,695 savings
-
Aspen Evolution 1500 system; includes Pro Plus primary flight display (includes synthetic vision and AOA), MFD 500 multi-function display + NGT-9000: $24,655 - $3,875 savings
The Lynx NGT-9000 is a Mode S extended squitter transponder with integrated touchscreen display and an internal GPS/WAAS that ports ADS-B traffic and weather data to the Aspen Evolution displays through an RS-232 interface. While the Lynx NGT-9000 displays this data on its own touchscreen display, pilots now have several options to arrange data on the larger Aspen primary flight or multi-function display(s) − allowing them to view more information where and when they need it.
Combined features:
-
Compatible with Aspen Evolution primary flight and multi-function displays
-
Dual-mode 1090ES ADS-B Out plus 1090 and 978 MHz ADS-B In
