Aspen Avionics and Avidyne Announce Enhanced Integration of Evolution Flight Display and DFC90
Reno, NV, March 23, 2011: Aspen Avionics and Avidyne Corporation announced today that they will collaborate to enable the Evolution EFD1000 Primary Flight Display (PFD) to be the attitude source, mode annunciator and flight director command display for Avidyne’s new DFC90 digital autopilot. As a result of this joint effort, a growing number of Aspen and Avidyne customers will be able to upgrade their panels with the award winning Evolution PFD combined with the leading edge DFC90 autopilot system. The integration package is expected to be released later this year, and pricing will be announced on March 30th at the Sun ‘n Fun Fly-in in Lakeland, Florida.
“Aspen has been very successful with the compatibility aspect of the Evolution system as it has allowed them to retrofit into a wide variety of aircraft with varied avionics configurations. Avidyne will be able to leverage Aspen’s Approved Model List of over 900 aircraft to make the DFC90 available to a broader range of general aviation customers,” said Patrick Herguth, Avidyne’s Chief Operating Officer. “We are pleased to be working with them on the interface with our DFC90 to enable broader access to this safety enhancing system.”
In addition to attitude inputs and mode annunications, the joint integration effort will bring the DFC90’s safety enhancing features, such as low and high speed Envelope Protection and one-touch straight and level capability for unusual attitude recovery, to current and future Aspen customers.
“The combination of Aspen’s integrated Air Data and Attitude Heading Reference System (ADAHRS) and Avidyne’s innovative safety features is a powerful offering for those seeking an affordable, all-digital solution,” said Aspen President and CEO John Uczekaj. He added, “Aspen’s collaboration with Avidyne delivers upon our philosophy of openness and interoperability, enabling new options for owners to update their aircraft with advanced, best-of-breed avionics capabilities.”
